No, I’m not writing about what’s happening on KIIS 97.3 next year in the wake of the exit of Breakfast team Robin Bailey, Kip Wightman and Corey Oates. That’s yet to be announced, and I’ll post about it later today (Wednesday).
The story of the moment is that Kyle Sandilands is scheduled as a guest at the Supernova pop-culture convention at the Brisbane Convention Centre from November 7-9.
But maybe he’ll change his mind if he takes any notice of the reaction to this news on social media.
Sandilands has been invited to appear on the back of his role in the stunt-casted film Zombie Plane (which opens on November 13) and will be joined by many other cast members including Brian Austin Green, Sophie Monk, John Jarratt, Lincoln Lewis, Nicky Whelan and Cody Simpson.
The confirmed headliners for the event include Jean-Claude Van Damme, John Boyega, Michael Peña, Georgie Farmer, Alex Garfin and Holly Marie Combs.
Keynote speaker will be former ABC star, mathematician and supernerd Adam Spencer.
But Sandilands’ participation, scheduled for on November 8, has not gone down well on social media.
One Facebook user referred to him as “the biggest monster ever to grace the halls of Supernova!” Another asked “is he volunteering?” and a third declared the event now “dead”.

One commenter on the Mad F—king Witches’ page noted: “Ah the comments are sublime. Spectacular own goal by the organisers.”
I’m told Supernova even switched off comments on its Instagram post.

First the BOM didn’t like being called “the BOM”. Now there’s the bombshell revelation that its redesigned weather app has bombed. Badly. Will the redesign get a redesign? It seems very likely.
Did I miss a memo or something? Or perhaps the guidelines on how to be a decent, respectful human being? When did being an emotionally incompetent and immature tosser become the standard we set for celebrity status? I can only point the finger at the expansion of the internet which has eaten the soul of journalism, giving rise to sensationalism and Kyle certainly fits the bill. It saddens me that we allow emotionally damaged and immature people to have a platform from which to spew their bent and twisted ideas and slowly erode human decency and dignity. Shame on anyone who thinks it's ok to hire someone like him.
