Yes, it’s a video. Quick summary: many of the people now commenting about what’s wrong with radio were (or still are) part of the problem. They walked away with millions of dollars while hundreds of honest toilers lost their jobs, share prices plummeted, and audiences were poorly served. I expressed these opinions in an interview with a trade publication six months ago which, I guess it’s now safe to say, is never going to see the light of day. I might not have all (or any) of the answers, but at least I’m outside the bubble of Sydney-Melbourne elites who seem to have specialised in making one bad decision after another. I raise this now because some of these people have been vocal in trying to salvage their own reputations — often in forums moderated by their old industry chums. Among all this there’s little detectable remorse about the damage that’s been done and no real solutions for the future.
Note: this is raw footage, recorded “as live” and unedited.
Disclaimer: Brett Debritz has written about radio, and been heard on radio, for four decades, and worked in radio for “five minutes” (according to an anonymous commenter).
