Max Dudley has quit his position as content director of news-talk radio 4BC, effective today.
In a message to staff, the head of Nine Radio Greg Byrnes said Siobahn McDonnell will take the reins as acting content manager.
Dudley arrived at the station three-and-a-half years ago to begin the process of transforming 4BC from a relay station for Sydney’s 2GB to a live and local presence in the River City.
In his own email to staff, Dudley noted that 4BC had launched 10 local shows, changed frequencies (from 1116AM to 882, switching with 4BH) and “most importantly put Brisbane first and been the voice for our loyal audience”.
I understand he will be taking a family break before taking up another opportunity.
As I’ve noted elsewhere, the ratings are in the doldrums but 4BC has a strong presence in the city and is home to many talented people.
Disclosure: I worked at 4BC in 2021-22.

OLYMPICS DEBACLE
Meanwhile, all bets are off. We’re going back to square one. Forget the wasted time and money, the state government has decided to rethink all its infrastructure decisions regarding the 2032 Olympics and Paralympics.
In what I’m sure many regard as a political masterstroke, the Labor government has appointed former Liberal Lord Mayor Graham Quirk to do it.
I hinted at this in my 2024 predicitons. We deserve a better plan for the Games and for the city in general.
What next?
